Fingers 02:51

A record like deep, black water.
hp.stonji, the radical electronic duo of Hans Platzgumer and Jens Döring starts out for a second round. Their surprising, mysterious debut mélaina cholé (spezialmaterial, 2005) filled fans of left field electronica with enthusiasm - the follow up full-length-album Syntonum will continue that trip into a complex, deep and chal- lenging universe of sound for advanced listeners.
Now their gloomy, melancholic moods, technoid breakbeats and sonic crudeness go even further: the album features the soft tones of an old wooden guitar’s nylon strings and the organic vibes of an accordion found in the attic, lifting hp.stonji’s boundless soundscapes to a new level. On the digital side, a new VST-instrument was even programmed to match the artists ́ perfectionism. Their music continually changes shape with violent dynamics and amazing velocity. In a constant flow, no beat remains the same.
Metic was an international dance floor slammer for hp.stonji in 2004. BBC rated mélaina cholé as one of the best albums of the year 2005. Spectacular multimedia live shows (where videos by Georg Gaigl are projected onto the musicians’ laptop covers) in NYC, London, Brussels, Bucharest, Vienna, Munich, Glasgow and many other cities were passionately received by enthusiastic audience and critics alike.
hp.stonji is one of the most innovative and technically advanced projects in today’s electronic music scene – Syntonum will prove that with its powerful approach in January 2007.
“Nothing for the calm-minded, fulfillment for the rest.” [de:bug]
“... topped with the most dramatic, mind altering waves of sound. Crazy noises everywhere. Awesome!” [Boomkat]
