about

Hans Platzgumer. The cascades of colour he sprayed over grey and boring landscapes of international music production are legendary. So are many of his bands like HP Zinker or Queen of Japan, his countless co-operations and soundtrack projects. Often his music appears like the first footprint on the shores of virigin territory.

His trio Convertible - Tom Wu/percussion & Chris Laine/bass - continues a longstanding expedition to the many facets and colorations of musical expression. In 2010 the band´s fourth album, ALH84001, surprised with a delicate collection of soft, yet powerful folksongs. Acoustic guitars, mandolin, strings and easy percussion made this appear almost like chamber music.

The Growing of Things sees Convertible develop a rich, driving breed of folkrock, precise like a swiss watch, punchy and pointed - each splash of sound is placed just right, each pick of a string unveils more and more of each songs nature. What can you compare it with? Nick Drake´s heavyweight easiness? With the crazed nonchalance of Tim Buckley? Yes - this is music you won´t get enough of. And no - it´s of incomparable, unique greatness!
